Hi yesterday we did a fun activity about the history of flight because we are learning about
flight so we did some learning about the history of flight and the people.

The story of Matariki

Once upon a time there was a young boy named Matai. He lived in a village with his brothers and they were handsome but they did not have a wife yet because they were too into them self but one day Matai and his brothers heard sweet lovely voices coming from across the mountain so Matai’s brothers went up the mountain to see what was up there. When they got up they saw beautiful lovely wahine with beautiful silky golden hair. They were shining like glowing shimmering beautiful stars. Then Matai’s brothers fell in love with them immediately because they were so pretty to them . And after that matai’s brothers took them to there village to make the seven wahines their wife's . And after that Matai’s brothers started to look ill and starving because Matai’s brothers did nothing but take care of the seven wahines . And after he  had to do something because he was curious. Matai knew he had to do something about his brothers wife's so in the middle of the night Matai went outside and started to spy on his brothers wife's. And after that they finally made a move and turned into birds and flew away so matai followed them and found out that they were making a plan to make matai’s brothers starve to death. After that Matai told his brothers and talked some sense into them. after that Matai got a magical net and gave it to his brothers and they captured the wahine. The seven wahine begged them to let them go but the brothers refused to let them go and gave them to matai and matai took them to the god of the stars and they turned into Matariki stars so they could still show their beauty.

And that is one story of the Matariki stars.

Matariki day

 On Friday it was a cool day kind of sunny day for everyone and fun day because we all would have a day to do different kind of activity for a day in different classes everyone was hoping they would be in the group they wished to be in but first we would have to wait because we had to go to a assembly . And after that assembly we all came back to class and sat on the mat ready to do the roll and after doing the roll we all got told what class to go to and what we were doing i was so happy i got put in the class i wished for because i was in cooking class so i went to room 3 and with my bag and shoes and when i went in i was a little shocked to see a lot of people that i did not know so i was a little shy so  i sat at the back and my group was watching a matariki video .  After watching the video we did the roll . Then  after that we got into our activity and i was doing origami first and we were in groups that we got split into from the teacher . And origami was kind of hard but that was fine because we had some help . After that we all went onto the mat to eat our food and after that we all went outside to enjoy playing for a bit . After that we went to our class and we were making picletes and this time were going to cook after we got into a team and one of the year 8’s and year 7’s had to take a team to help . and my helper for my team was Shelly . And she was so kind . After that we all had to have turns of doing stuff like mixing the flour and milk together . Or cracking the egg . Or put the mixture into the bottle. And after that we all went into the kind of hard bit  we had to cook it now and flip it and use the right amount of butter at the right time . After doing all that it was the fun part decorating the picletes with whip cream, chocolate chips, the jelly sauce and the Oreo's and sprinkles . Then it was time to eat it and we all enjoyed it . Then it was lunch time and after lunch time . we all went back and had to do something exciting and scary for me we had to do a fortnite challenge we all had so much fun . And then it was time to go to the hall with our bags and shoes to show and share what we made and did. And that was my matariki day
